Isaac Hers is a women’s contemporary line, designed to inspire, elate and energize women through fashion. With its roots in Portland, Oregon, Isaac Hers has a distinctive artistic and ethical style. Designs are edgy and playful, yet easy to wear, mixing both vintage and modern inspirations. The Isaac Hers design studio and production facility are located in North Portland, within 5 blocks of each other. This enables us to know exactly who is sewing our goods, often by name. Also, this funnels money directly into our immediate community, a key element in creating an ethically sound labor force and a sustainable city.

Isaac Hers founder and owner, Barbara Seipp, launched the line in Spring of 2008. Barbara’s career path is somewhat out of the ordinary for a designer. As a child she studied under a master seamstress for 5 years, learning in a very hands on way how to construct just about anything. Continuing to design and sew dresses for herself and friends, Barbara honed her skills through high school. Having many talents, she went on to study engineering at Rensselear Polytechnic Institute and later to earn a J.D. at Lewis and Clark Law School. After working for some time in Patent Law, Barbara began to sense a real loss of her creative self and, boldly, gave it all up to open a retail shop in 2006. Her shop, Phlox Clothing Boutique, was supposed to, in 2006, launch her line. Well, life got in the way, and a pregnancy postponed the launch until last year. In a short amount of time, Isaac Hers has become the best selling line in her shop and she has picked up several accounts in the Pacific Northwest. Now, her plan is to take her line beyond the Northwest.
